The Construction Industry Regatta. Get seen & mix it with the industries big boys…
SEPTEMBER 15 - 16 2017
We are tied to the ocean. And when we go back to the sea, whether it is to sail or to watch, we are going back from whence we came.
The Little Britain Challenge Cup is the property and construction industry's annual sailing regatta, based at Cowes Yacht Haven, Cowes and is organised in early September each year. It currently attracts over 60 companies and over 750 crew.
Whilst the event is smaller than before the recession, numbers are growing year on year and it is for many, more intimate and sociable and remains one of the best and most enjoyable networking events in our industry.
All racing takes place in the Solent around the 'cans' (buoys). and there are generally 5 races over two days - two on Friday and three on Saturday. In simple terms, the winner is the boat that has the best score from 4 of the 5 races in your class. You can discard your worst score if you have completed five races. We offer an optional Warm-Up Race is on Thursday afternoon and in 2015 over 75% of companies participated.
At the end of racing each day, everyone meets up in the marina or in the Yacht Haven bar for a few drinks to exchange views on the days events. There is a supper in the Event Centre on Cowes Yacht Haven on the Thursday and the Friday BBQ supper at the the Royal Ocean Racing Club (formerly The Royal Corinthian Yacht Club and the Saturday Prize Giving Dinner are always a sell-out, however, a few crews book a local restaurant as a good alternative.
